For Christmas 2004, Grandma (Liz) sent money for the kids to get new bikes.  We waited as long as we could to buy them so that the kids were as grown as they could be before we sized them up.  As it seems is always the case, beautiful weather comes early in Portland, so in late February 2005 we picked them out.  They got identical bikes since they're pretty much the same height.  I built them and we test drove them at the parking lot where I work.  Everything seemed perfect!
