In the middle of October, before Halloween rolled around,
we went to Fir Point Farms for a Halloween / Fall festival.
There were hay rides, carnival games, haunted houses, hay mazes,
pumpkin patches, apple cider and donuts and all kinds of other yummy
foods. We walked around the farm, saw animals and had a really
fun time.
They had horse drawn hay rides going the whole time. I
don't think we rode them though.
This was the first picture Amy wanted to take. You can see
she's pretty much the only one interested.
Ah, the kids are finally into it. They went in alone.
We don't know what horrors they saw...
Like twins!
There were animals. Here we have sus scrofa domesticus,
aka a pig.
Aw! Cute little bunnies.
There was a goat that had this massive play structure all to
himself.
You could put treats in cups and reel them up to him, elevator
style.
Massive pumpkins. Itty bitty kids.
I don't remember seeing this. Kinda like a hay teepee.
I went through the hay maze with them. There was one part
that I was almost too big to get through!
It was pretty windy that day... especially when walking through
the open fields.
They had some carnival type games set up too. Here we have
ring toss onto pumpkins.
And there was golf into the jack-o-lantern mouth too.
I think Patrick got one of the larger prizes at one point.
I think we headed back over to the haunted house or maze again.
Or maybe it was just to get some kettle corn.
We eventually diverted to the creek that runs by the farm.
You have to walk down a pretty steep embankment.
But the trail is fun and interesting to walk.
Here we stopped at a large water area where the fish were.
I included this just because I thought it was a good picture.
Surprisingly, I think Amy took it.
Finally to the pumpkin patch to pick out the ones that would go
under the knife.
Pumpkins, sunflowers and chibbles.
The victims are loaded into a wheelbarrow.
They let you walk through their fields of corn too.
There were some dilapidated old houses for the kids to get
tetanus from.
That's my best pumpkin smile impression.
And finally another picture of Amy as we're about to wrap up the
day.
