Halloween 2003 was a bit odd this year.  We did most of the normal stuff... we went to a farm near our house and picked out some pumpkins.  That was pretty fun.  We got to ride a train around the pumpkin patch and they even had a paddle boat ride on a pond where things would come up out of the water to frighten you.  We brought the pumpkins home and made scary jack-o-lanterns.  The odd part came on Halloween day itself.  Everything was going well until all of a sudden Jarod threw up all over the kitchen floor.  No warning at all... just a 5 foot spray.  This was a serious heaving!  Best we could figure, he got food poisoning from eating in the cafeteria at school that day.  We called the school to let them know... if it happened to anyone else and their parents reported it, at least they could find a pattern.  So unfortunately, Jarod didn't end up going trick-or-treating that night.  But Amy did what she does best... and it's this kind of stuff that makes her the best mother on the planet... she had all Jarod's friends come over to the house the next day for a dress-up day-after-Halloween party.  They got to smash a piņata and do other fun stuff.  Isn't she great?

The boys standing in the pumpkin patch.

Here we are with our pumpkins picked out, waiting for the train to come back around.

The train was pretty cool.  The kids loved it.  Here's a vid of us riding in it.

Knife...

guts!

Knife...

guts!  (OK, there's a pattern here... don't mess with Amy.)

Gutting the pumpkin on the kitchen floor.

There's Sera checkin' out what's going on.

The final product!

Amy always has great outfits.  This year was a serving wench.  Rowwwrrrr!

Patrick dressed up as Batman!

Here's poor Jarod curled up on the couch.  :-(

Door to door...

Ah!  Run for your lives!

Hittin' another house...

Some random dude I don't know... but Amy got a pic of him, so here it is.

This is what our house looks like on Halloween.  I have a fog machine and lots of little decorations that make noise and move about when you walk near them.  I stand motionless in the window in all black and a faceless mask.  It tends to freak the kids out a bit.

On Halloween Day, one of our kids' friends came over to visit.

This is the day-after party.  Here they are decorating some cookies!

And this is the whole gang... having fun with the wench.  ;-)
