In March 2004, my father came out to the west coast on business.  He spent some time in Portland with us.  And when business took him up to Seattle, we followed and did some sightseeing with him.  The kids were thrilled to see Grampa, as usual.  Here are some pics from the days we spent together and some from our solo family activities.

This is a park just up the street from our house.

The kids showed Grampa how well they could do the monkey bars.

This is at the top of the Space Needle.  They have a revolving restaurant that is terribly overpriced.

The dessert had some cool name like "space rocket" or whatever.  The dry ice was a big hit with the kids.

From the observation platform, you can see a top down view of the Experience Music Project (EMP).

As picture worthy as the exterior of EMP is, it doesn't make up for the fact that it is the biggest waste of time in all of Seattle.  The monorail driving through it is its best feature.

A little monorail ride with Grampa!

We also went to the aquarium.  This is a large circular tank with jellyfish in it.

Amy looks all protective... like the octopus is going to eat the kids or something.

The aquarium folks took the time to set up a "Finding Nemo" display with Nemo and Dory.

We also took a cruise around what I think is called Elliot Bay.  It had nice views of the mountain ranges.

As well as pictures of all the harbor machinery with Rainier as a backdrop.

We spent some time at the Children's Museum.

We also watched an OMSI movie of the Mount St. Helens eruption.  I thought I'd work in some education for the boys.  They actually enjoyed the movie.

We also ended up at the zoo.  (We bought one of those City Pass things.)

The primates are always fun.

As are the elephants.
