March 25
Amy took the kids over to my father's house for the day
to celebrate my brother Peter's birthday. Looks like they
had a lot of fun! |

There's the birthday boy hanging with all the other riff-raff. |
 |
 |

My father, aunt Chris and my cousin Annie. |

My brother Mike and his girlfriend Kathy show up... |
 |
 |
 |
 |

I think my dad has me on the phone to participate in the singing
of the birthday song. |

Peter's got some girls coming over to wish him a happy birthday.
What a stud! |

Isn't she adorable? |
March 26
I guess they did it a little early (probably to avoid
crowds, maybe so that my kids could go), but this is Qing Ming, the Tomb Sweeping Festival.
Celebrated two weeks after the vernal equinox (usually April
4-6), the Chinese go out to tend to the gravesites of their
ancestors and offer them food, wine and spirit money as
offerings for the continued blessings of the departed.
|

Uncle Allen and Al with the boys. |

Amy's mom is there to pay tribute to her parents. |

Amy's dad's father is buried there as well. |

I think the entire Wong clan was there that day. |

Amy's mom, brother, uncles and aunts... |

Amy's cousins Andy and Lisa, with Jarod and Uncle Allen. |

Here you can see the boys with Uncle Al and cousin Anna in the
back. |
 |

Amy's cousin Lisa... is she cold or did she just want to get
closer to the food? ;-) |
 |

March 27
Amy and Po-Po went with the kids to some kind of
children's museum it looks like. They had a Blue Man Group
exhibit at the time. |
 |
 |

I bet those were loud... |
 |

Ooh, a big chess board. Game on! |

I wonder who's winning? The both look confused... |

OK, this is cute, but... |

This just cracks me up. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
March 30
The boys got to spend some more time with Po-Po tooling
around Boston, checking out some of the sites... |

March 31
This was the big anniversary day. My mom was pretty
surprised to see us sitting amongst the other family members
when she walked into the restaurant. The food was great
and it was nice to see everyone together. (We did take a
little excursion earlier in the day to reminisce.) |

Here's Amy with her high school biology teacher, Mr. Siggens.
This was probably the last year we'll visit, because most of our
teachers are gone or leaving... |

Me and the boys at the front door. I always point this
out, but... my high school is older than Oregon. |

This was one of the houses Amy grew up in as a kid. |

OK, on to the anniversary pictures. Here's my mom entering
with her husband. |

Her sister Jan gives her a hug. |

One of my kids ran up to her and hugged her, but she didn't
realize I was there for about 5 minutes. |

The boys brought gifts up for grandma. |

The 5th year anniversary thing is wood, so they made her a
wooden clock... |

A wooden picture frame... |

And we gave her a myrtlewood salad bowl and tongs. |

The boys with Uncle Mike. |

Kathy and Mike... so cute... and she helped put together the
wonderful party. |
April 1
Peter got a dog! I never thought my dad would allow
it, but he did. He's softened in his old age. We
went by to meet Ricki and to hang out one more time before we
left. |

Our family photos are always funny to me... |

Ricki is an adorable puppy. Very friendly... |
 |
 |
 |
 |

My dad took us bowling... |

candlepin bowling... |

I sucked hard. |
April 2
We visited grandma's house for an Easter egg hunt.
The boys had a great time and I enjoyed chatting with Eddy as we
walked around hiding the eggs. |

Heading out to find some eggs... |

Scouting out the backyard... |
 |
 |
 |
 |

They had fun opening the eggs and finding the treats inside. |

I'm not sure... did a whole coloring book fit in an egg? |

I think they're playing Wheel of Fortune. They like
hanging out with grandma a lot. |
